A group of about 40 editors took time out of the their busy schedules to learn how to better manage their busy schedules at CSME’s “Be a Task Master” luncheon, held on May 5, 2011 at the Arts & Letters Club in Toronto.

Time-management consultant Steve Prentice amused and engaged his audience in an info-laden 30-minute presentation that covered how circadian rhythms influence our peak periods of effectiveness to why you should use that knowledge to block off “keystone time” in your day – when nothing short of your car being towed warrants an interruption – to focus on the most important task(s) you need to take care of.
This Magazine editor (and self-proclaimed “techie geek”) Graham Scott then spoke about some of the timesaving and organizational software tools he uses on a daily basis. His favourites include Gmail and Goggle Docs (as the editor of a non-profit, he’s big on free programs), Dropbox – a web-based storage solution that allows you up to two gigabytes of space for free, and Workflowy, a web-based to do list.
